Chocolate Avocado Smoothie

Alright, friends. Last week we threw a little pizza party at The Savvy Plate, but this week we’re going with a smoothie recipe—a chocolate smoothie recipe.

Unless of course you just saw the word “pizza” and no longer have any interest in a smoothie recipe…  In that case, here’s last week’s recipe for Pineapple Pizza Buns.

If you weren’t distracted by the pizza and would like to stick with the smoothie recipe for which you came here in the first place, read on.

This Chocolate Avocado Smoothie comes in handy for when you’re craving straight up chocolate pudding, but you also have a hunch that God put fruit on the earth for a reason. You know, for like nutritional value and stuff.

Disclaimer: A chocolate pudding snack pack also has value because you can pull it right out of the fridge ready to eat and it tastes good.

But on days when you’d rather have something a little more filling than the chocolate pudding and you’d like to be able to tell yourself that you got some potassium and calcium and healthy fats in without any added sugar, there’s this Chocolate Avocado Smoothie.

Disclaimer again: I’m not a doctor or a nutritionist, and I can’t give you real advice as to whether this smoothie is better for you than a pudding snack pack. I’ve just been around long enough to have heard rumors that bananas contain potassium, milk and yogurt contain calcium, avocados contain healthy fats, and that I didn’t add any sugar to this smoothie. Feel free to fact-check me on that.

Before we proceed, I’d like to point out that this recipe is written to make two smoothies rather than just one. That has a lot to do with the fact that (1) it’s a little rich and (2) it includes a whole avocado. I personally have gotten a stomach ache from eating an entire avocado at once before. But again, you’re not obligated to listen to anything I say. Do your thing.
